In 2008, a big discovery of fine deep orange Garnet was unveiled nearby the Serengeti park in Loliondo, Tanzania. The quality and color of the garnets was very high and getting rough material became an important goal for all gem hunters and jewelers as the stones had a very high percentage of top faceting material for the high end jewelry market. Most of them were rounded and eroded crystal but a few had, like that example shown here, those sharp faces, good luster, and flawless gem quality...: all the top criteria for a mineral collector.
